General Manager

Lauren comes to Artemis with 22 years of professional experience in the culinary and catering business. Having grown up just outside of Portland on a small farm, Lauren has deep roots connecting her to the sustainable practices and local foods of this area. She started her culinary career in Sun Valley, ID, working for Sun Valley Company. Starting as a pantry chef, Lauren worked her way through the kitchens of Sun Valley learning all aspects of the trade. In 1999 Lauren was named Head Chef of Piccolo Restaurant, an intimate Italian Bistro that focused on artisan food. In 2001 she ventured out on her own creating Lauren Carr Catering, a premier event and party catering company. Thanks to the unique climate of the Sun Valley and Ketchum area, Lauren had the opportunity to work with many celebrity and high end clients, managing to make a name for herself in the valley. In 2008, she moved back to Portland, her beloved hometown, where she continued her catering business. Lauren takes pride in exceeding her client’s expectations whether in the menu execution, or the attention to detail in event planning. She is excited to merge her knowledge and expertise with the excellence that already exists at Artemis Foods.

Executive Chef

Executive chef Joshua Ferguson comes to Artemis with twenty years of culinary experience, ranging from casual to fine dining, from large scale banquet events to intimate pop up cafes. In whatever context, he has pursued the goal of creating high quality creatively inspired meals to be savored and remembered. He enjoys the opportunity to design dishes that serve as a celebration of their ingredients and their contextual setting.

When not busy creating, consuming, or contemplating food, he can be found in the woods with his dog, or a motorcycle, or a good book, or a cheap beer, or (ideally) all of the above. He enjoys travel of all kinds, always seeking out new experiences and new perspectives at home in the American northwest and all across the globe.

Bookkeeper & Office Manager

Tracy Bender joined Artemis in 2018 bringing with her a unique set of skills. After receiving her BA from Cal State Long Beach, she began her career as an elementary educator in LA. Since moving to Portland in 2005, Tracy has worked primarily in the design and creative industries and is a self-proclaimed “numbers geek”. She is not afraid of a spreadsheet and her background wrangling 3rd graders provides the perfect combination to be Artemis’ Bookkeeper and Office Manager – or as we like to call her, the office mom. She enjoys reading, hiking, and going to hear music around town. Her love of baking and cooking makes her a welcome member of the Artemis team.
